Living Room Reno – Part 1.5

Living room as I empty the shelves to make room for kitchen stuff. The dark purple is staying!!

With our kitchen makeover we also sort of have a living room reno.

The living room is open to the dining room and we want the floor to be one continuous flow thru the 3 rooms. Currently, the kitchen and dining room have the same peel and stick rust colour floor. Although for some reason the kitchen is 1/4″ higher then the dining room. The living room has a light pine colour laminate floor.

When I painted the living room a few years ago it was suppose to be purple…..we did an accent wall in dark purple and the other 3 walls were suppose to be a light bright purple.   The walls ended up being “pepto pink” when it dried. I was happy it wasn’t tan anymore but never really loved it.

But as always there are bigger fish to fry with kids activities, fosters and life in general.  So we left it.

Now that we are doing the flooring, I am painting the 3 pepto walls grey.  In our basement I used Rona Recycled Interior Paint in Pebble Beach and it came out great. We are going to try Stratus in our living room with although I am a little worried it might be too dark. It may also be just the perfect amount of dark to go with our light floor and make movie watching more cozy.

We are also going to slowly replace the baseboards and window trim throughout the house.  The kids rooms and all three bathrooms have the old flat 5×1 baseboards but the rest of the house has bevelled baseboards and trim.  I HATE cleaning the bevelled baseboards. They never get clean enough.

So although it is just paint and baseboards, the living room will be getting a light makeover as well!
